Rio Tinto Specialty Aluminas
Rio Tinto Specialty Aluminas (RT-SA) is a producer of specialty alumina based in Gardanne, Southern France. In 2010, RT-SA management realized that there was potential for a new market in Taiwan. While it had affiliates in Japan and in China, RT-SA did not want to increase its corporate and legal risks though more subsidiaries in Asia. At the same time, the sales process of specialized alumina requires a well-trained and specialized sales force. RT-SA wished to train and manage this sales-force directly, with the possibility of ensuring long-term loyalty of the personnel. Accordingly, selling through a local distributor was not considered an adequate option, as the training and management of the sales force would have been decided by the distributor.
In 2010, RT-SA decided to approach JINTO and accepted our offer for long-term resource hosting. Ten years later, in 2020, the jointly defined distribution of roles, the rules of the mutual rights and obligations has basically remained unchanged. RT-SA (now Alteo) has been successfully selling its products in Taiwan thanks to the cooperation with JINTO. We currently host 6 sales resources for Alteo in our Taipei office and have provided the same service in several of JINTO’s subsidiaries in Asia.
